Contify, a content aggregation and distribution service, showcased their offering at?#Alpha, the product and startup showcase at the?#NAMA conference. For business users, Contify can serve as a news discovery platform for content related to their domain. In their presentation at #alpha, Contify suggested that it solves two problems currently faced by users ? one of too many good sources for accessing content and the other that users cannot search for news based on concepts. For example, users who want to search for news about companies that have raised funding mostly submit a query with ?raised funding? in the search bar. However, most of the news about funding might not contain those keywords.
Features:? Users can register on the website for free by submitting their email address, full name, password, job title, company, and contact number. Users can also subscribe to the website as a paid customer which will entitle them to added benefits (details below). After?registration, users can select the industries(s) they would like to follow including Internet, E-Commerce, Automobiles, Biotechnology, among others. Users can either track these topics or add their own customized trackers for news and follow it on the website or create an email alerts (three for free users), where it will mail the user with most relevant news once a day.
Apart from that,?the website also lets users perform ?filter-based? search. The filter based search allows users to discover news based on industries, activities, companies and persons, aggregated from over 150 publications including B2B magazines, trade publications, government filings, Parliament questions & answers and others. Users can filter the search based on topics such as acquisitions, investment, sales, new product launch, etc. The website also provides users the ability to search news related to a business personality and filter it with publications, type of stories, company/organization.
The company also has an editorial team, which covers information and reports news on a range of industry verticals. The website also syndicates content from its holding company ? Athena Information Solutions Pvt Ltd?s partnership with 280 publications to Dow Jones Factiva, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, Yahoo, among others across the country and worldwide. It?s editorial team is also responsible of the ?facts? section of the website, where it lists a 30-40 word excerpts from news that might interest the user and and tagged with appropriate industry, topic, company or person. Users can again filter the facts based on industry, topic, publication, business person, and location.
Over a period of time, Contify tracks the topics that users are interested in and plots a graph depicting news from popular topics. Users can click on a segment of ?the pie chart they are interested in and follow the news. It also plots a bar graph for companies with most news.
Monetization: Currently, Contify offers a paid subscription to access content. While it also offers free access to the content, paid subscribers get added benefits of viewing the content without having to leave the website, email alerts for facts, facts filter search and more. For the same, Contify has partnered with publishers (including MediaNama) and it pays publishers anywhere between 35-40 percent for syndicating their content.?Mohit Bhakuni, founder and CEO of Contify, informs us Contify will be launching an alternate way to monetize by next week. The new feature will enable contify to syndicate content from international publishers while contify will charge them to syndicate it to their users.
